“I am inspired by the transporting qualities of nature. Mixing vague shapes and almost-tangible photographs of organic elements, I create dream-like landscapes enhanced through layers of photography, wax and paint. My aim is to create work that takes the viewer to a new place, a door to a world both sensual and contemplative.”
ARTIST BIO
Joyce Gehl is an artist best known for creating sensuously atmospheric work by blending photography, encaustic, and oil painting. Her art has been featured in exhibitions in Seattle, Atlanta and Santa Fe. She is included in corporate and private collections in the United States and South America. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from UC Santa Barbara and the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.
Joyce works in her Seattle studio overlooking the Puget Sound.
